Barbara Ann Hodge was born on January 15 1956, in Statesboro, GA to the late Draton and Betty Harris. She was educated in the Elizabeth public school system in Elizabeth, NJ. She married Walter C. Hodge and raised their beautiful children. Barbara was affectionately called Barbran, Aunt Barbara and cousin Barbara. She was a loving and caring person who was everyone's mother. Besides the children she gave birth too, she had many children she called her adoptive children and they loved her just as much. She could be stubborn and defiant at times but that's what made her a survivor. Barabara learned the truth by a young lady that came to her home in fayetteville, NC. She symbolized her dedication by water baptism as one of Jehovah's witnesses in August 2007. Her family was everything to her, defying the odds by having children, she made it her soul purpose in life to be a good mother. She was a wife, a mother, but there was no greater name greater to her or meant more to her than grandma. Barbara is predeceased by her mother Betty Harris, her father Draton Harris, Her mother in-law Margaret (Maggie) Hodge and her best friend Kathy Lindor. She leaves here to carry her on legacy her son Hassan Cook (Dorene Cook) of Palm Coast, Fl; her daughters Tasha Cook of Fayetteville, NC, Lakia Wilson of Phillipsburg, NJ. Granddaughters Tanajwa McMurray of Greenville, NC, Calisha McMurray of Fayetteville, NC, Akriba Herron (Lamar Herron), of Decatur, GA, Asada Cook of Palm Coast, Fl, Grandsons Jacole McMurray of Fayetteville, NC and Robert Thomas of Palm Coast, Fl. Five Great Grandchildren; Jah'air, Ay'rah, D'yani, Kha'zah and Messiah. Seven siblings Georgette, Diane, Ganette, Virginia, Alrina, Linda and James. Her Aunt Johnnie Mae Champagne of Elizabeth, NJ. 15 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends. The family will miss her smile and her take over the room personality. She was truly a loving mother and grandmother who was loved by so many and will be missed by everyone. She love each and one of us, no one will ever take her place but we can take solace knowing we were blessed by knowing this beautiful person. We will always have all the memories she left us.
