Philip Paul Thompson

Philip Paul Thompson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, at the age of 77 in Palm Coast, Florida. He was born on August 23, 1947 in Englewood, NJ to Hanna and Edwin Thompson, and was raised in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, along with his three brothers and sister. Philip graduated from Pascack Valley Regional High School and went on to serve in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. After returning home, he worked for Bell Atlantic, supporting his family until his retirement in 2002. Phil was an active member of Preakness Valley United Reformed Church in Wayne, New Jersey, for 37 years and often and eagerly gave his time tending to maintenance and repairs there. Later, when he, his wife, daughter, and son-in-law moved to Palm Coast, Florida, in 2020, he continued to volunteer. In fact, he was maintaining the grounds at Grace Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast, FL on his last day with us. Phil was a skilled repairman who could fix just about anything around the house. After retirement, he dedicated his time to honing his craft in woodworking—creating furniture and an incredible quantity of detailed, unique birdhouses that he generously gifted to family, friends, and the annual Mother's Day flower sale at Preakness Valley URC. In the last few years of his life, he transitioned from traditional woodworking to designing and creating intricate geometric wall art, producing a substantial body of work that evolved and advanced significantly in a short period of time. Phil was known for his unique personality, unpretentious and straightforward approach to life, fun-loving sense of humor, and ability to connect with almost anyone. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thompson; daughter, Jill Miladinovich; sons, Jeremy and Ryan Thompson; grandchildren, Heather Timmermans, Hope Kukol, Joy Blake, and Ike Friday-Thompson; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Kukol, Christine Kukol, and Elowyn Timmermans; as well as his siblings, Edwin Thompson and Janice Paradise; and many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hanna and Edwin Thompson; his brothers, David and Allen Thompson; and his grandson, Christian Miladinovich. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love and deep appreciation.
