    Charles R Sylvester

    May 18, 1937 - April 16, 2022

After he enjoyed a heartwarming celebration of his life in hospice, surrounded by many members of his large, blended family, Bob passed peacefully on Easter Saturday April 16,2022. Another beautiful soul rising to heaven to give us even more depth to a cherished holiday. Or as the Jersey boy in Bob would say, “Buet-ee-ful”! Anyone who met Bob got to experience his kindness, playful banter, and genuine interest in connecting. As for members of his family and close friends, they also had the great benefit of experiencing his big-hearted generosity and his willingness to lend a kind, listening ear. With many of us, this was no easy task. But Bob would find a way to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Bob married the great love of his life, Loretta, in 1978. They shared 44 wonderful years together raising kids, gardening, playing bingo, eating out, and entertaining family. Their’s was a beautiful love story that served as an inspiration for all of us. The example they set with a loving, stable home was welcoming to many of us over the years both in Coral Springs and Palm Coast. Their blended family included Bob’s own two beautiful daughters, Robin (Javier) and Michelle and Loretta’s four children, Suzanne (Frank), Kathy (Rodger), Rick, and Mary (Glenn) all of whom Bob lovingly cared for as his own. Bob was “Papa” to, and a cherished presence in the lives of, his 8 grandchildren; Maureen (Martin), Melissa (Alex), Bryson, Michael (Meghan), Brielle (Kam), Keara, Spencer and Macy and his four great-grandchildren Shelley, Gregory, Corey, and baby Ada. He absolutely loved each one of them even as he purposely kidded them by mispronouncing their names. The grands and great grands will most remember Papa’s extreme patience while teaching many of them how to fish and his love of the outdoors. Bob cherished visits by his three sisters, Jeannie (Tom), Gail (Danny), and Suzette who shared his affinity for lighthearted banter. Even as far as lovingly and often referring to themselves and each other as “STOOPID!” The sisters, along with their compliment of nieces and nephews loved Bob deeply and brought contagious energy, laughter, and fun to his life, right up to his final days. Bob was greeted in heaven by brother Donald, brother-in- law Sammy, wife Carol, daughter Michelle, his parents Jean and Roger and so many others. Throughout his life Bob always happy when he worked hard: at the shop, fixing his home and puttering in his garage and garden. However, he was frequently most eager to share his enthusiasm for the things he loved. Music, nature, and animals were always at the top of his list. We can picture Bob in heaven having Alexa play Neil Diamond’s “Hello Again” while crossing over the “rainbow bridge” to see his beloved dogs, Mandy, Chloe, and Jessie with a great smile on his face. His recent fur baby, Gracie, sure does miss her walks with Bob to sit on his favorite park bench. Bob has entrusted her care to his sister-in-law Diane and Charles. Bob often talked about winning the big lottery. But all who knew him had already won the great fortune of joining this dear man in a life well lived! A memorial will be planned for the summer. Donations in his honor would be lovely and can be made to: Advent Heath Hospice in Palm Coast St Jude’s Children’s Hospital
