Darrell G Burton

January 13, 1935 - January 25, 2022

Darrell G. Burton, Sr., 87, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered eternal rest. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 1/2 years, Ann; 3 daughters, Regina (Doug) Rhodes, Wendy Atwell and Kim Gatzek all of whom "loved him more"; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 additional children, Beth Solis, Jr. Burton and David Burton who he loved as he did all of his children. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Burton and 2 grandchildren, Dustin Rhodes and Caleb Weaver. Darrell attended St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer. One of his favorite accomplishments was winning 1st place in a community golf tournament with his daughter, Regina. He was a Boston Celtics fan and enjoyed watching classic television. He could quote many lines from his favorite television shows. One quote he would say quite frequently to his granddaughter Katy, was "Live long and prosper". Darrell graduated from Anderson Senior High School in 1953. He served in the US Naval Reserves. He retired from the Kroger company after a 40 year career. It was difficult for him to be humble because he was "practically perfect in every way". A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
