    Elizabeth "Betty" L Westenhiser

    May 15, 1924 - August 6, 2021

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Lee Bierk Westenhiser on August 6, 2021. Betty was born on May 15, 1924, to Myrtle Miller & Dr. Lee Bierk. She is survived by her five children, Mary Beth Kelly (Bruce), Gail Kerr (Charles), Jim Westenhiser (Kim), Lisa Smith (Earl) & Tom Westenhiser (Linda). Her five grandchildren, Jamie Sasso (Anthony), Matthew Westenhiser, Amanda Kearns, Patrick Kearns, Scarlet Westenhiser & great granddaughter Ella Sasso will also miss her dearly. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Bierk (Nancy deceased) & sister-in-law, Nina Bierk (Bob Bierk deceased) along with many cousins, nieces & nephews. Betty attended Kirkwood High School in St. Louis Mo and was named “May Queen” her senior year. She also attended Washington University where she met & married her husband, the late Jim Westenhiser. Betty was always very close to her family, calling them her “best accomplishment” & cherished the job of mother. She enjoyed big family gatherings and holiday meals at which she will be greatly missed. She loved the sounds of Frank Sinatra and the Big Bands of the 40’s & 50’s. Betty was a very social person and will also be missed by her many friends in Hollywood, FL, Medford, NJ, Altamonte Springs, FL & Palm Coast, FL. A mass in her honor will be held at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach, FL. Heritage Funeral and Cremation, Bunnell, FL will be handling funeral arrangements. She will then travel to her final resting place at Calgary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to the American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org FUNERAL WEBCAST @ https://www.facebook.com/heritagefuneralandcremation
