George H. Genz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George H. Genz George H. Genz, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012. He was born on October 27th, 1919, to George and Eva Genz in Rock Island, IL. He graduated from Moline High School in 1937. He began his career with International Harvester (Navistar) in 1938 in the Traffic Dept. at the Farmall Plant in Rock Island, IL. He married the former Geneva Yeater of Moline, IL in 1942. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theater of Operations during World War II serving in the 14th Armored Division under General Patton. He continued his career with International Harvester after the war transferring into the Depot System as head of the Traffic Depts. in Baltimore, MD., Kansas City, Broadview, IL. He retired from the General Office Traffic Dept. in 1976 as head of the rail transportation services with 38 years of service. The Genz's retired to Palm Coast and have lived in Palm Coast for 36 years. He was a member of the Palm Harbor Golf Club for 30 years and belonged to the Men's Golf Association, his one claim to fame is 3 Holes in One. He belonged to the Kentucky Colonels, VFW and is a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Geneva, of 70 years (they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June); daughter, Jeannie Andeway of Longmont, Colorado; his son, Greg of Fox Lake, Illinois; grandsons, Michael Andeway, Longmont, Colorado, James Andeway (Jen) of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was predeceased in death by his father and mother, George and Eva Genz, brother, Herbert Genz. He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather and was looking forward to being a great-grandfather. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Palm Coast.
