Joseph "Joey" Anthony Day
September 23, 1976 - August 13, 2020
Joseph Anthony “Joey” Day, 43, passed away August 13, 2020 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, FL. He was born in Rockledge, FL, on September 23, 1976 and lived most of his life in Ormond Beach, FL. Joey attended Mainland High School and DBCC College. He was a loving, caring man who dearly loved his family, especially his 2 children. Always a hard worker, Joey excelled at many jobs, chef, salesman, certified in HVAC, repaired and built docks and seawalls, and handyman. He was most proud of air conditioning and heating because he learned from the best, he was his Dad’s student at DBCC and maybe he was a little harder on him, but Joey sure knew his stuff when he graduated. He put his heart and soul into everything he did and he had so many talents. He was an excellent cook, he loved music. listening and especially singing duets with his daughter. One of his favorite artists was Ed Sheerhan and the songs “Save Yourself” and he requested “Supermarket Flowers” to be played at his Grandma’s funeral. He also loved the group Boyce Avenue and we went to see them in concert for his 40th birthday and the song “Demons” by Imagine Dragons. He was very artistic and loved to draw, sketch, and paint. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, going to the gym (who enjoys that?), but his passion was surfing and going to the beach and watching the sunrise. He had a great sense of humor and liked to tease and we will miss his smile. He had a positive attitude and very big heart and his mission was to help people. He always wanted to help others who were suffering from similar problems and recently he was involved with his boss to renovate and establish a new recovery house in Daytona Beach. He never knew a stranger and so we were not shocked to learn that he wished to give the gift of life by being an organ donor. So, at the end of his life, he gave one of the greatest gifts by saving four people through Our Legacy. In the OR there was a time-out before his surgery began and A Moment of Honor was read so that everyone there knew who he was and they call him a hero. Even during some of his most difficult times in his journey of life, he was strengthened by his faith in God. Footprints in the Sand was one of his favorite poems. These were some of quotes that he posted, “The depth of our anxiety measures the distance we are from God”, “Patience with others is LOVE, patience with self is HOPE, patience with God is FAITH”, and finally, “Love fiercely because this all ends”. Joey is survived by his parents, Noah and Diane Day, sister, Jennifer Ann Day, daughter, Kaitlyn Grace Day, son, Angel Noah Day, niece, Sophia Isabelle Day, nephew, Linc E. Torin Day, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and so many friends. His funeral Mass will be at Prince of Peace Church, 600 S. Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 am, and interred at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL immediately following service. The family is requesting that all who attend service wear masks and social distance. The funeral Mass will be live-streamed on youtube.com/princeofpeaceormondbeach.
