Josephine “Josie” Fostek Josephine “Josie” Fostek was born May 31, 1922 in Chicago, IL to the late Emerick Hikec and Christina Banific and passed away January 22, 2015 in Port Orange, FL at the age of 92 years. She was raised in New Jersey and in the New York area, and graduated from Eastside High School Paterson N.J. Where she resided and worked for 20 years. She resided and worked in Houston Texas 24 years before moving to Epiphany Manor, Port Orange FL. in 2000. She was a member of Church of the Epiphany and Our Lady of Hope in Port Orange, FL. Josephine enjoyed Marching Band Music, Twirling and being drum Majorette in High School. She loved fashion, a beautiful day at the beach, singing Elvis songs and riding the Votran bus. She was known for her perseverance and relentlessness and led a very active life. Loved ones and friends referred to her as a sweetheart, a good wife, great Mom, and a wonderful grandmother. Josephine had a great love for the Marine Corps. And she served as a clerk Typist during WWII for two Colonels. Josie was also known for her hand wave in pictures as though she was still in the Military. Josephine loved helping children with Arts and Crafts and spent her time on Saturdays with Kid’s Club at Michaels. Josie enjoyed the beach and could usually be found on the shores sitting in a chair under an umbrella. Josephine’s great accomplishments were her three children and her favorite granddaughter Jennifer. She loved them with all her heart. She graduated from Barbizon Business School of the Arts which enabled her to support herself and her children. Her greatest asset was her determination to be a caring person no matter what the circumstances. She loved assisting Veterans and remained in the Ladies Auxiliary Marine Corps Club in Texas. She was known for her upbeat spirit and looked forward to a cup of coffee with family and her friends at Epiphany Manor in Port Orange. She was a very loving person inside and out and will be missed by her family and friends. She holds a special place in our hearts each and every day that passes especially, her youngest son James Fostek who watched over her and she him. She is preceded in death by her brother, John Emerick Hikec. She is survived by her children: James M. Fostek, Jean E. Nydam and husband Ray, Andrew Robert Fostek and wife Pat, a granddaughter, Jennifer Mason, niece, Stephanie Wrona, nephew, Thomas Hikec, and grandniece, Addie Wrona. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar, Port Orange, FL 32129. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange, Florida. Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Port Orange, FL.
