What can I say about my favorite memory of Ana, well, there was quite a few. What I remember most was how she made me feel. When I first came to Miami I was 19 years old and naive. She treated me like I was her daughter the way a mother looks after her children, even though I was her stepdaughter- in-law. She knew when I was sad, and would offer comfort. She always made me feel safe around her.
What I learned most from her (besides her great cooking) was how to take care of family. That was the best gift she gave me.
She is a loss for us but our tears should be of joy because I know Heaven just received another Angel, Ana Rodriguez.

My fondest memory of Abuela is her taking me in as her biological grandchild; Loving and chastising me like her own. I learned broken up Spanglish 😂 from Abuela & with her loving & open arms we communicated as if it didn’t matter. I felt the love towards me was unconditional. She always teased me about my kadonkadunk lol and ALWAYS told me how I was a beautiful black girl.
Before she moved to Palm Coast, I’ll never forget I drove her from Miami to Tio Wayne’s parent’s house in Plantation. She started whispering ( it was only me, her & Benji) to me in Spanish to go buy her cigarettes but not to tell Cary. 😂 (all while petting Benji). I never purchased cigarettes in my life 🤦🏾‍♀️ but I did that day and proceeded to give her a Cuban 🇨🇺 headband that I usually wear & represent during Miami Carnival but she was so content 😆. That made me smile along with the infectious energy she had when it came to salsa dancing 💃🏾 and drinking her beer. I truly believe that’s where I get the love of dancing from. To be candid, I honestly thought you all were my natural bloodline; however, it doesn’t matter to me because she and Abuelo were the glue to this family line I feel that brought us close. I’m so happy I got to see her live her best life even in her golden years 💞. I could say alot more but Abuela will forever hold a deep space in my heart 💜. Love her forever!
