Angeline V. Koons' Obituary
Angeline V. Koons
On November 25, 1918 a beautiful little girl named Angeline was born to the late Michael and Veronica Karbowski nee Matulewicz in St. Paul, MN and passed away in Daytona Beach Shores, FL, October 12, 2014 at the age of 95 years.
A large family of 11 children (6 boys and 5 girls) from Polish heritage who eventually moved to Saginaw, MI where she grew up in a Catholic home and community. Angeline worked as a hair stylist most of her life and owned her own business in Michigan.
In 1961, after many cold winters, she made the decision to bring her family to the “Sunshine State.” After a few years in Jacksonville she finally made her home in Port Orange, a place she loved very much for many years. A story she once told was that on one of those cold days in Michigan she made her plan to move to Florida. She looked at the map, closed her eyes and put the pen where she believed it would tell her to go. It landed on Port Orange!
Angeline was a committed member of the Catholic Church of the Epiphany for over 30 years. She also volunteered for Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler for many years and as a pink lady for Halifax Hospital. Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler was the hospice that provided her care in coordination with her loving family who insisted on having her at home so that she could witness the incredible ocean views, beautiful birds passing by and glorious sunrises. She left us peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2014 surrounded by her children who kept vigil over her over the last weeks; this was the vision she always had for her last day.
Her ascension to the heavens is preceded by her husband Donald’s passing in 2005.
She is survived by her forever grateful, loving, 7 children and their families. Son, Donald J. Koons Jr. of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, Daughters; Betty Ann Daunt of Albuquerque, NM, Christine Dennison of Port Orange, FL, Kathryn Neal of Los Angeles, CA, Jacqueline Pattison of Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Panaro and husband Glen of Daytona Beach Shores, FL and Alison Karcher and husband Michael of Port Orange, FL. Angeline was also blessed with 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and 9 grandogs.
