Anthony M. Setteducato's Obituary
Anthony "Tony" Setteducato, 70, born in Brooklyn, New York, passed away at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida on February 28, 2025.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Tony loved bringing people together even if he could be the quietest person in the room. That is, unless he was watching sports and complaining about an inconsistent New York Giants quarterback. His generosity, pragmatism, and sense of humor will be missed by those who loved him most.
An entrepreneur and general contractor, Tony dedicated over 40 years to careful and high quality workmanship through his company, Sette Construction. Still, he saved his best handiwork for those he loved. Endlessly toiling with things around the house, admiring sound architecture, and inventing new ways to improve a space, he always answered the calls of family and friends in need of repair or rebuilding. His resilience was impenetrable. There was no wound a little electrical tape couldn’t heal.
Tony was a proud resident of the Margaritaville state of mind, seeking coastlines, laid back afternoons, and wandering drives that left him lost on purpose — he called it “taking the scenic route.” For twenty years, he and Oonagh made their home in New Jersey where he’d cruise around Lake Hopatcong waving to neighbors from his boat. In 2023, the pair fulfilled Tony’s dream of moving to Florida where they began their retirement in Palm Coast exploring local beaches and waterfront parks.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Gerard, and brothers Jerry and David. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Oonagh; daughters Lisa and Vanessa; son Gerard; sisters Liz, Cathy, Susan, and Jane; and brother Stephen. He will also be missed by his sweeping stock of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends from New York, New Jersey, and Florida, all of whom were immensely important to him.
A Memorial Mass in Tony's honor will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (www.olsoslh.org) located at 237 Espanong Road in Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 on April 26th at 11am. Immediately afterward, a repast will be held onsite in the church hall.
