Barbara Lynn Gearsbeck's Obituary
Barbara Lynn Gearsbeck, 59, of Palm Coast, FL passed away on October 14, 2024. She was born on February 24, 1965 in Syracuse, NY to Walter and Jean (nee Bailey) Ridgeway.
Barbara graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square, NY in 1983. She married the love of her life, Rodney Gearsbeck on August 4, 1990. In 2002, she and Rodney purchased and operated the Maple Leaf Inn in Lake Placid, NY. It was a labor of love, and over the years they made a tremendous number of friends and loyal clientele that enjoyed their hospitality year ‘round.
In 2013, Barbara was formally diagnosed with Cadasil, which she battled courageously for the rest of her life. Family meant everything to her, and at that point Barbara focused on her family as best she could. After vacationing in the Daytona Beach area for 27 years, she and Rodney took advantage of an unexpected opportunity to sell the Inn in 2022 and moved to Florida full time. It brought her closer to Disney, which- along with owning numerous dogs and cats over the years, was another passion of hers.
Barbara was predeceased by her Parents; Grandparents Eugene & Dorothy Bailey; and her brother-in-law Frank Zeolla. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Rodney; their son Jim; her brother Robert (Stacey) Ridgeway; her sister Cathy Zeolla; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her loving family and countless friends and former clients from around the world.
