Barbara Jean Sims' Obituary
Barbara Jean Sims was born on March 31, 1952 in St. Helena Island, South Carolina to Victoria and Benjamin Simmons. Barbara departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 peacefully at her home from natural causes in Palm Coast, Florida.
Barbara and her family relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey. She confessed Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Barbara attended and graduated from Dickerson High School in 1969.
Barbara united with John Sims Jr. in 1972 and from this union 1 son was born. Barbara and her husband, who she loved very much, enjoyed traveling the world. She enjoyed Carnival cruises, spending time with and cooking for her family. She was faithful with her daily TV shows including, Days of Our Lives, Another World, Santa Barbara and Passions. Every night before bed she would indulge in her favorite books and read the National Enquirer. She was loving and always willing to help everyone.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Simmons and a sister, Juanita Caldwell.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Sims, Jr. of Palm Coast, Florida; son, Aliki Simmons (Nicole) of Brandon, Florida; mother, Victoria F. Simmons of Jersey City, New Jersey; 3 grandchildren, Al’Jaleel Simmons, Rahjee Simmons, and Alina Simmons; 2 step sons, Erwin Holloway and John Long; 3 aunts, Octavia Holloway, Rebecca Jackson and Mary Robinson; a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service in Bunnell, Florida.
