Bethel L. Ferguson's Obituary
Bethel Lee Ferguson, age 80, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Palm Coast, Florida. She was born in Mt. Gay, WV on November 26, 1940 to Keeling and Mahala Vannatter.
Beth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Larry, and their four daughters; Cathy (Donald) Haney, of Palm Coast, FL; Barbara (Dean) Crayton, of Thomasville, NC; Kimberly (Bill) Simonson, of Palm Coast, FL; and Chris (Gary) Martell, of St. Augustine, FL. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Donny (Jana) Haney, Jenny Haney-Long, Mitch (Catie) Crayton, Dean (Bethany) Crayton, Alex Simonson, Makenzie Simonson, Jake Martell, Lauren Martell, 8 great-grandchildren and her baby African Grey parrot. She was preceded in death by her father Keeling, her mother, Mahala, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Beth was the oldest sibling of a large family and in 1959 married the love of her life, Larry Ferguson. In 1961 they moved to Medina, Ohio where they built their dream home on a few acres of land in the country and raised their 4 daughters. Beth was a caring and devoted wife, mother, granny and friend. She retired from Ford Motor Company in 2004 and spent her free time taking care of her family, enjoying the company of her best friends, volunteering at the senior center in Medina, generously donating to many charities, and loving on her grandchildren. She was known for her strength, humor, kindness, and generous heart. She was always the first to help someone in need and was a role model on how to be accepting and loving to all. Beth and Larry became “snowbirds” in 2003, and became permanent residents of Florida in 2007. One of her greatest joys was watching football on the weekends with her husband and family. She would cheer and yell for her favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, while at the same time yelling words of discouragement to the opposing team. Sundays would be loud and lively and like a true granny, she always made sure there was food for her family to enjoy.
A private service will be held in Palm Coast, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beth’s memory to one of her favorite charities: Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
