Brenda Alice Wiggen's Obituary
Brenda passed after a long struggle with Dementia on February 6th, 2022 . She fought a long hard battle with the help of her family that lasted over 10 years. She was surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers.
Brenda Alice "Sweat" Wiggen was born in Bartow Florida on March 27th, 1951. Her father Ralph Sweat managed truck terminals while they lived in various locations throughout Florida. She spent most of her youth growing up in the Winter Haven area. She enjoyed visiting her grandparents' lemon tree orchard where they read books and ate lemons dipped in salt under the shade. Her teen years were spent in West Palm beach, Florida where she graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1969. During her early adult years she enjoyed attending numerous live concerts with her friends throughout the country. During this period she worked in banks in South Florida and then Austin, Texas.
She met her husband Craig during a trip she took to Madison, Wisconsin. After moving there they married in 1978. They had 2 sons Craig "Robby" and James "Cody". Being a southern girl that never acclimated to the cold, they moved to Florida and settled in Flagler Beach in 1986. After relocating they had a daughter, Tiffany.
Brenda was very involved with the local soccer, surf, and Boy Scout community. She helped start the local soccer program at Wadsworth Park along with other local Flagler County families. She coached all her kids during various years. She also tabulated surf contests in the local area while her son Cody surfed. She was a local Cub Scout Den Master and involved with Boy Scouts while her sons were members. She was an Emergency Department Technician for over 25 years at the area hospitals. So many people had crossed her path and she treated everyone with integrity and dignity.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Rena Sweat and her sister Sandra Griffin.
Brenda is survived by her husband Craig Wiggen, her children Robby (Raquel) Wiggen, Cody (Jenn) Wiggen, and Tiffany (Chris) Wiggen, her sister Eleanor McClean, her grandchildren Wesley and Kailani as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on March 26th at the Flagler Women’s Club from 9am-3pm. Located at 1524 S Central Ave, Flagler Beach.
