Candace Nichols' Obituary
Candace Nichols (5/7/43) of Interlaken, NY, passed away on April 18, 2023 following a long illness.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Leslie and Betty (Ike) Sowards and a brother Lindsay Sowards. She is survived by her children Dena (Bob) Ganoung, Jill (Paul) Sandburg of Florida, her sons Jim Nichols of Arizona and Darren (Karen) Nichols of South Carolina, six grandchildren - Stephanie (Patrick) Riley, Greg Ganoung, Ashley, Courtney and Kaelyn Sandburg, Cody (Tori) Nichols and four great grandchildren, as well as brothers Zane (Connie) Sowards, Dann Sowards, sister-in-law Debbie (Lindsay) Sowards, several nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins.
Candy was a hard worker, having worked at ID Booth, O’Malley’s Restaurant, Cayuga Medical Center and Interlaken Quik Shoppe. Candy loved spending time with family whether playing cards (Euchre was her favorite) or holding picnics at home. Anyone who attended those picnics remembers her BBQ chicken and her gasp … then giggle when the jart (with the sharp points) that she had just thrown landed safely without hitting anybody: She wasn’t known for her aim. Candy made friends wherever she went and did what she could to make life better for those in her circle. She is already missed.
