Carmelo Figueroa's Obituary
Carmelo Figueroa, 87, of Palm Coast, passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, eternally joining his wife of 42 years in their heavenly home. Carmelo was born on July 8, 1929 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. As a young man, he moved to Jersey City, NJ. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carmen Negron, a Puerto Rican national. They married in March 1953. In 1980, they moved back to Puerto Rico, where Carmelo cared for Carmen through her final days in 1995. He returned to the United States in 2005 to reunite with his children in Florida. For many years, Carmelo worked as a butcher. In his free time, he enjoyed playing dominos and his "Cuatro" Spanish guitar. Carmelo was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He will be remembered as a great father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He will be deeply missed.
Carmelo is survived by his two loving daughters, Carmen Figueroa and her husband Jose Otero of Middleburg, and Gloria and Carlos Pagan of Palm Coast; granddaughter Melissa and Michael Steinberg of Orlando; and two great-grandchildren, Cassandra Steinberg and Christian Gonzalez.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
All arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Flagler County, FL.
