Carol Lee Lester's Obituary
Carol Lee Lester (Gibbs), 75, of Satsuma, Florida, was called home to heaven on August 2, 2025. On April 14th, 1950, Clifford and Mildred “Mickey” Gibbs, of Louisville, Kentucky, welcomed Carol into the world as many believe they have now done in heaven. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty years, Roger, cherished brother, Wayne Gibbs (Delia), of Louisville, Kentucky; Children: John Johnson, Christine Johnson, Kelsea Johnson (Leslie), and Carrie Johnson, all of Flagler Beach, Florida; Gabriel Inman (Bridget), of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Jared Lester (Chanel), of Milwaukie, Oregon; 11 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many cherished friends, and her sweet dog Mickey.
After graduating from Iroquois High School in 1968, Carol started a family and learned she had a talent for sales. She became a powerhouse in her many years in the Apartment Industry where she was widely respected and successful. Carol’s career led her to start successful businesses in corporate relocation, real estate brokerage, and publishing. Carol was universally respected and developed lifelong friendships along the way.
A Daughter of the King, Carol was an active member of St. Marks Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir. In addition, she was a devoted volunteer and fundraiser for The Heart of Putnam Food Pantry, and friend to the homeless, helping find resources, completing phone calls and helping with paperwork. Carol truly never met a stranger.
Those who knew her best would say that she was a true daddy’s girl and shared his love of fishing, that she loved casinos, that she would dance in the grocery store aisles with her daughters, that she loved to laugh, to sing karaoke, that her chili won cook-offs, that she could talk with her friends for hours upon hours, and if you missed one of her derby parties, you missed out! You didn’t have to know her well to know that more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoke often of her love for them.
A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 200 Main St., Palatka, Florida 32177. Thereafter, we will gather in the church banquet hall for lunch and time together. We welcome friends, family, and loved ones to join us in celebrating Carol’s life.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to: Haven-Roberts Hospice Care Center, whose care and compassion brought solace to the family and comfort to Carol; The Daughters of the King, whose prayers, comfort, and continued support has been invaluable.
