Catherine I. Devoe Bezich's Obituary
The eldest daughter of WW-II Navy veteran and Judge Edward Devoe and wife Irene (both deceased), Catherine, born in Provo, Utah, was 75 years old and passed away from cancer April 10th. Her family had moved to Cadillac, Michigan when she was two years old. Two sisters, Margaret and Anne, and a brother, Charles, followed during the next several years. After graduating from High School she was off to Michigan State University where she worked her way through and earned her B.A. in English Literature and M.A. in Clinical Psychology. She graduated with High Honor in the Honors College Program and was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. From there she went to New Orleans where she met her future husband, Peter Bezich. Catherine and Peter have been together for more than 42 years.
Catherine was loved and respected by everyone that knew her. She was always ready to lend an ear and provide comfort and understanding to her friends. She made friends easily which was a great help since Peter's career required many transfers and moves over the years. Starting in New Orleans then to Maryland, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Delaware, Georgia (again!), Connecticut and finally Palm Coast, Florida for a well earned retirement. She enjoyed writing, ballet classes, nutrition and health and analyzing and investing in the stock and bond markets. Sitting in the sun out on the lanai next to the pool with “Francie” (our cat) was one of her greatest pleasures. Catherine had suffered a double mastectomy seven years ago and succumbed to its recurrence.
