Chala Love Salisbury's Obituary
Chala Love Salisbury, 81, passed away on February 14th, at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House – Palm Coast, Florida. She was born on January 28th, 1942, in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Charlotte Gertrude Fisher and John Rothrock McKinstry.
Chala was a devoted follower of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dearest friend to all she met. She ministered to incarcerated women in Tennessee. She founded Crosswalk Schools and was its Executive Director (2002-2012). She received her Master of Arts in Special Education from Georgia State University (1973-1975). She studied Music Education at the University of Louisville (1962-1964). She studied Music at Center College, Danville, Kentucky (Class of 1964). She attended Waggener High School (Class of 1960).
Chala was preceded in death by Dale Salisbury (husband), Samuel Cooke (grandson), John McKinstry (father), Charlotte McKinstry (mother), and John McKinstry (brother).
She is survived by her children Kevin (Raquel) Cooke, and Kelly Cooke, and her five grandchildren Sarah Rothert, Zachariah Rothert, Micah Rothert, Iain Cooke, and Abby Cooke. She is survived by three siblings Suzanne (Bill) Baxter, Margaret (Brock) McKay, and Lynn (Lamar) Davis. She is survived by stepchildren Paul Salsberry, Aimee Turner, April (Shawn) Shelton, and Tucker Salsberry, and step-grandchildren Kobe Shelton, Hannah Shelton, Aubriannah Shelton, Zoe Shelton, and Harper Shelton.
