Charlene R Yazurlo's Obituary
Charlene R. Yazurlo, 75, passed away peacefully after a long battle with COPD. Charlene was a lifelong singer and sang with Sweet Adelines in Fairfax, Va. before moving to Florida with her family. In 1987 she joined Florida Sweet Adelines and became a member of Famous Beach Chapter in Daytona Beach. She started directing the Famous Beach Chapter and was a Certified Arranger thru Sweet Adelines Inc. The Famous Beach Chapter eventually became Song of the Coast. Charlene joined a number of quartets before her friends formed The Firecracker Four and performed on many occasions over the years. In 1991, her daughter Lory, was seriously injured and she took a break from singing, but in 1993 Charlene formed the Kooky Ukes, which was a group of friends and singers that played different instruments, sang and had lots of fun together. The Kooky Ukes held many performances thru the years. Life in the Yazurlo family was tough with Charlene losing her husband and 3 daughters in the last 18 years. Singing with the Kooky Ukes kept the joy in her life. Charlene is survived by her daughter, Leslie; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Joe, Eric, Lisa and Wesley; 6 great-grandchildren; Nathaniel, Xavier, Kahliyah, Thomas, Julian and Emma; and her sister, Carol Ball of Yulee, Fl.
