Charles W. Fickert's Obituary
Charles Walter Fickert, “Chuck” to all, 68, passed away on August 16th, 2021 in Palm Coast, Florida. Chuck was born on June 3, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio to Jeannine Martha White and Walter Charles Fickert. He was 1 of 5 children born to the couple. Chuck liked adventure in his youth. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1972. He attended some college but Chuck was eager to enter the world of business and start his life. He moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he was employed by Tyco Electronics. He returned to Dayton, Ohio in 2000, where he began work as a greens keeper and mechanic at NCR Country Club until 2006.
On July 30, 2005, Chuck married the love of his life, Tracy (US Air Force Retired). In 2006, the Air Force relocated the couple to Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia, where Chuck began his employment at the James River Country Club as a greens keeper, until his retirement in 2010. In 2019, he and Tracy relocated to Palm Coast, Florida to start a new adventure.
Chuck a double transplant survivor, had an easy going nature and with a shy smile that made him easy to like. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for 41 years joining in 1980. He was always the first to volunteer to cook in the kitchen, wax the floors, sell 50/50 tickets, etc. Chuck, did whatever was needed to make the Moose successful in meeting its mission. Most recently he was a Trustee of the Palm Coast Moose Lodge, but his beloved Hampton Moose Lodge was never far from his thoughts.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannine Martha White and father, Walter Charles Fickert, and his sister, Sharon Paris.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Pepin Fickert, sisters, Lynn Fickert Ward of Greensboro, North Carolina, his sister, Janet Fickert of St. Croix, USVI, and his brother, Steven Fickert (Sharon) of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, as well a host nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at his beloved Hampton Moose Lodge in Hampton, Virginia.
