I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Jamie, Kristin, Kevin and the entire Mahan family. I had the distinct honor of serving with General Mahan as his Chief of Staff for the VII Corps Redeployment Command from Saudi Arabia (Desert Storm) in the summer of 1991 and as his Support Operations officer in the 7th Corps Support Group in Crailsheim, Germany in 91-92.
Chuck Mahan was the epitome of a Soldier’s Soldier. He was a dynamic leader who would never ask his troops to do anything he wouldn’t do. He routinely displayed physical and moral courage when leading his troops. He was a great mentor and I owe him so much for the successes I might have enjoyed. Simply put, he was the best boss I ever had. A great Soldier and a better human being.
I was blessed to be able to take Chuck and Jamie to Ireland in 2017. We had a wonderful trip and I know he enjoyed it a great deal.
Rest in Peace Sir. You truly deserve it.
