Cheryl Lynn Kosma's Obituary
Lady Cheryl Lynn Benson Kosma of Scotland, Connecticut passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones on January 17, 2018. Cheryl was born on January 17, 1950 in Norwich, Connecticut to Charles Harold Benson and Dorris Elizabeth Balcom Benson.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Philip Edward Kosma, her daughter Krystina Shea Benson Wicker and husband James Hardy Wicker, her sister Sandra Benson McHugh and brother-in-law William (Ted) McHugh, nieces Kimberly Fedeli Waters and Amy Fedeli Harmon, and her fur children (Pugs) Spanky, Darla and Alfie.
She and Philip were high-school sweethearts who lost touch. They reunited later in life through the grace of our Lord, and shared 18 years of love and laughter, creating beautiful memories along the way. Cheryl loved art in many forms. She attended art school in Boston. In addition to her passion for art, Cheryl was nicknamed "our little butterfly" by family. Cheryl had a soul that would spread and bring joy, happiness and peace to others no matter her own personal struggle at the time. She also had a love for nature. All wildlife, especially birds flocked to her at their property in Scotland. It was a daily ritual to fill the many bird feeders and lay out food for the many deer and other woodland animals that came by for a visit.
When we take pause to remember a lesson, laugh or memory of our mom, wife, sister and Aunt- take this Maya Angelou quote to heart:
"I've learned that people will forget what you've said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Learn it, live it, spread it. She would like that. Ciao... until we meet next time!
A celebration of life will be held at the Scotland residence this spring. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cheryl's life. Details to be released at a later date. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Porphyria Foundation at www.porphyriafoundation.com Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service of Bunnell, FL is assisting the family with final arrangements. www.HeritageFlagler.com
