Constance "Connie" Bryan Winstead
Constance “Connie” Bryan Winstead, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at home in Ormond Beach, FL following a long term courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 16, 1931, in Jacksonville, FL to Needham Whitfield & Pauline Parrish Bryan, prominent citrus growers in Brevard County.
She grew up in Titusville Florida and graduated from Titusville High School and attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she met her husband of 62 years, Raymond Carlile Winstead, Jr., former Brevard County Clerk of Court.
Connie was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Bryan Henderson, and her son, Bryan Edward Winstead (Barbara).
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Winstead Lentz and husband Carl W. of Daytona Beach, FL, Karl Franklin Winstead and wife Lynn of Mims, FL, and Emma Louise Winstead of Gainesville, FL. Nine grandchildren, Ashley Lentz (Robert Feezor), Carl Lentz, Parrish Peddrick (Jonathan), Niki Humphrey, Brittany Humphrey, Jourdan Humphrey, Cassidy Humphrey Jones, Courtney Winstead (Becky) and Chenoa Winstead , and Twelve great-grandchildren.
In college Connie was on the Ladies basketball team, a cheerleader and crowned Miss Southern Co-Ed. Throughout her work and volunteer years, Connie touched the lives of many with her love, support and memorable laugh. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter Z, the Junior League of Cocoa/Titusville and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Parrish Medical Center, which carries the family name.
A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Park Avenue Baptist Church, Titusville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pauline Bryan Society at Jess Parrish Medical Foundation.
All services are under the direction of Heritage Cremation and Memorial Chapel, Port Orange, FL.
