David Eugene Blake's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of David Eugene Blake, 45, announces his passing on September 11, 2024. David was born on April 24, 1979, in Louisburg, NC. He is survived by his mother, Rose Blake Engelhardt (stepdad, Jeff Engelhardt), his fiancé, Jeanne Ramsey (her son, Jarret Ramsey), his brother, Rickey Blake, his first stepdad, Ed Joyner, and his son, Christian Blake (GF, Miya George). David is preceded in death by his father, Robert "Runt" Blake. David moved to Florida from North Carolina in the Summer of 2016 and always had a passion for remodeling homes, painting, and landscaping. In 2017 David met his fiancée, Jeanne and they were always by each other’s side, through thick and thin, usually laughing together. David was an avid fisherman and most recently enjoyed going to Doris Leeper Park in New Smyrna Beach to fish off the dock or at the water's edge on the weekends. Any lake or body of water he could find in Port Orange to fish in, you would find him there after a long day's work. His pride and joy were his two bird dogs, Maci Mae and Finnard Lamar aka “Finn.” David was a great cook but even better Grill Master, grilling steaks or chicken anytime he could for dinner with Jeanne. A great weekend for David, was watching Duke basketball or a movie, working in the yard or fixing anything he could get his hands on. David was a “momma’s boy”, through and through and made it known that he was a true “Carolina Cracker.” Growing up he loved fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and anything he could get into in Franklin County alongside his brother, several cousins and lifelong friends. David will be remembered “always and forever” for his amazing smile, sarcasm, hard work ethic and his beautiful blue eyes.
