Dean Carson Gilkey's Obituary
Dean Carson Gilkey, 66, passed away on June 14, 2023, at home in Palm Coast, Florida. Dean was born in Arlington, VA, and lived most of his life in the Northern Virginia area. He was employed by the Federal Government as a computer programmer analyst until his retirement in 2009. He loved Gospel blue grass music and was part of a blue grass band for many years. He played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, and dulcimer. He was actively involved in church, leading music for church, Sunday school, and children’s ministry, and serving in evangelistic outreach and prison ministry. He also led Neighborhood Watch in his community in Virginia. He loved telling puns. He loved his family and was loved by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Margaret Ankers Gilkey and one sister, Joyce Gilkey.
Dean is survived by his wife, Carol; three children, Katherine (Andrew) Witherell, Ethan (Lauren) Gilkey, Anna Gilkey; five grandchildren; and his brother Ed (Debi) Gilkey.
Viewing will be on Saturday, June 24th, at 9am followed by a memorial service at 10am at Parkview Church in Palm Coast. Interpretation will be provided for the Deaf.
