Deborah "Debbie" Russell's Obituary
Deborah ‘Debbie’ Russell, 60, loving and caring woman, always thinking of others first
OLD FORGE – Deborah Russell (Herringshaw), 60, passed away unexpectedly in her home on
January 29, 2025. Debbie was born on August 19, 1964, to the late Donald and Josephine Herringshaw. She is also predeceased by “Bobche” Leona Gorski.
Debbie is survived by her brothers Jr. and Paul Herringshaw, husband Jan, children Michael
(Lauren), Victoria (David Lauber), Nick, and her four-legged son Howard, Daryn Miles (Lisa
and kids,) grandchildren Jayden, Avary, Emma and Colton, many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Debbie graduated from Mohawk Central and lived most of her life in Old Forge where she raised
her family and made great friendships. She was a wonderful woman who spent many years as a
nurse and life-time member of the Old Forge Fire Department as a Firefighter and EMT.
She truly was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend who was always
thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”
Many of her children’s friends referred to her as mom, because that’s exactly how she treated
you. If you were in her home, she looked at you as one of her kids.
She often wore a smile on her face, but the one that can’t be beat is when she was spending time
with her grandchildren. A smile that will never be forgotten but will surely be missed.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Old Forge Ambulance Corp. https://www.oldforgeambulance.org/donate
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Old Forge once the weather is nicer.
