Dennis James Blevins' Obituary
Dennis James Blevins, 69, died peacefully on February 20, 2023, with his family by his side.
Dennis was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Emmett and Lillian Blevins. He grew up in the Westend and Southend of Louisville with his parents and seven siblings. He claimed to study “beer” at Valley High School and attended The School of Hard Knocks. He was a proud Air Force veteran, serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War, and a member of the VFW. After serving his country, he returned to Louisville and graduated from the University of Louisville. Dennis had a successful career with Dupont, and enjoyed retirement with the love of his life, Judy Brown, in Palm Coast, FL.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, piddling in the garage, sitting on the patio, and frequenting the local watering hole. He was an ultimate DIY’er who could fix, build, maintain, or repair anything. Dennis loved anything UK, especially watching basketball games with Joey. Non-game nights were spent on the couch with Judy, watching reruns of the Big Bang Theory, Gunsmoke, or one of his many favorite detective shows.
Dennis was a hardworking family man and a hero in the eyes of his children. A man of noble character, he raised a family he was proud of. He had a tendency to acquire lifelong friends and greatly cherished these friendships. He will be remembered for his authenticity, generosity, improving patience, wisdom, and perspicacity. Thankfully, he passed his strong genes to his children, and grandchildren, too, it seems.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Judy Blevins, his children, Joey (Veronica), Brittany (Ryan), and Kelly (Brian). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Samantha, Kathryn, Jojo, James, Lucille, Walter, Henry, and Hattie.
A memorial mass for Dennis will be held at St. Albert the Great church in Louisville, KY on March 4th at 1pm. A celebration of life will follow in the Parish Life Center. Dennis was loved by many and all are welcome.
