Donald Christopher Gesek's Obituary
Donald Christopher Gesek, affectionately known as "Chris," passed away on August 10, 2024, in Palm Coast, Florida, on his 64th birthday. Born on August 10, 1960, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Chris lived a life dedicated to his family, country, and passions.
Chris is survived by his loving mother, Joan E. Gesek; his sisters, Debra A. Sharkey and Diane E. Trascapoulos; his brother, Douglas M. Gesek; and his children, Christopher W. Gesek, Stephanie L. Minder, Kevin A. Gesek, and Jessica R. Gesek. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Gesek.
Chris proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. His military career began on October 27, 1977, and spanned over 33 years until his retirement on January 7, 2010. Throughout his service, Chris held various roles, including Tank Mechanic, Drill Instructor, Infantryman, and Black Operations Instructor. His dedication to his duties earned him numerous awards and accommodations, a testament to his commitment and expertise, both in active duty and the Reserves.
Beyond his military service, Chris was a man of many interests and hobbies. He found great joy in fishing, studying military history, building models, playing chess, and listening to Rock n Roll.
A Funeral Service with full military honors will be held on October 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Family, friends, and comrades are invited to attend and celebrate Chris's life and service to his country.
Chris's legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and country will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
