Douglas W. Smith, age 77, passed away in Palm Coast, FL on December 23, 2020. He was born August 23, 1943 in Weymouth, MA. He graduated from Cohasset High School and served in the Navy for over 20 years. He retired from the Navy as one of the first Drug & Alcohol Counselors.
In 1968, Douglas married Beverly Payne Osborne. They lived in Cohasset, MA; Scituate, MA; Virginia Beach, VA; Panama City, Panama; and loved their home in Palm Coast.
Douglas was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverly; his father, Edward Smith; and mother, Vivian Adams Smith; his brothers David, Robert, William; and sister Karen Hawes.
Douglas has one surviving sister Gail Tobias of Michigan and two brothers Paul and Richard of Massachusetts. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Douglas and Beverly were passionate about animals and adored all of their pets. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to your local Humane Society.
A scattering at sea off the coast of Cohasset/Scituate is being planned for early summer to celebrate both Douglas and his late wife, Beverly.
