Dylan Barnlund's Obituary
Dylan Reed Barnlund, 26, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 29, in his home in Daytona Beach. Born in St. Augustine, he attended Webster, Murray, and St. Augustine High Schools. Dylan (nicknamed Heavy D) loved sports of all kinds, especially playing baseball starting from t-league all the way through PAL teams. Many of his days were spent with friends or his Grandma, fishing from the pier at St. Augustine Beach. Cooking was also a passion, especially when the fishing was good.! Several weekends a year were spent camping either at Princess Place or Ginny Springs with kids and adults of all ages. As he grew older much of his time was spent with his son Kai playing outside and going to festivals. He aspired to be a jeweler, primarily of gold rings and necklaces.
Dylan is survived by son Malakai Reed Barnlund, and the love of his life Summer Byerly; sister Annie Barnlund, her partner David Schalk, Costa Mesa, California and brother Yussef Daniel, Midgeville, Georgia; Grandma Pennie Daniel, St. Augustine, Florida, who helped raise him like a son; mother Diane (Kristi Daniel) Barnlund, Daytona Beach; father Maury Barnlund, Bunnell; grandfather Sammy Daniel, Midgeville, Georgia; grandfather Maurice Barnlund, Orlando; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins both here in Florida and California.
A celebration of Dylan’s life will be held at the home of Paula (Madden) Getz, St. Augustine, on Saturday, July 7 from 12:00-3:00. Please call 904-315-8827 if directions are needed. Online memories and condolences may be sent to Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service at www.heritageflagler.com.
