Edgar R. Doerr Jr.
Edgar R. Doerr Jr. of Daytona Beach, FL was born on February 13, 1921 in Homestead, PA to the late Edgar R. Doerr Sr. and Mary Doerr nee Risbin. He passed away on September 7, 2013 in Port orange, FL at the age of 92 years.
Mr. Doerr graduated from Homestead High School in 1939, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He graduated with Honors from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA in 1950, and went to work for the U.S. Steel Corporation as a cost analyst until his retirement in 1983 after 44 years of service. Edgar moved to Florida in 2004 from Pennsylvania. His wit remained keen until the end. In hospice care, his last words were “I don’t like this place; I’m never coming back here.” Those who knew him will miss him always.
He is survived by his loving wife Martha C. Doerr nee Tinal of 71 years, a daughter Beverly A. Delbusso and husband Michael of Cincinnati, OH, and his sons; William J. Doerr of Tucson, AZ and Edgar R. Doerr III of Pittsburgh, PA. He was loved and respected by his five grandsons and two great grandchildren.
