Edward James Gonzalez's Obituary
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Edward James Gonzalez, 84, of Palm Coast, Florida. Edward was born on August 21, 1939 in New York to the late Francis and Delores Gonzalez. He passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 9, 2024 at his home.
Edward was a proud father of 4 children, a loving son, brother, uncle, faithful companion, and devoted friend. He was a loyal Detective for the City of New York Police Department and a proud US Marine Veteran. After he retired in 1986 from active duty, he became the Hospital Administrator for 10 years at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He relocated to Palm Coast nearly 22 years ago which became his home. Edward enjoyed playing golf, traveling and always looked forward to the standing weekly dinner with his closest friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his two sons, Edward Andrew Gonzalez and James Francis Gonzalez; and a sister, Greta Ryan.
Edward is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne Stupple and her husband, Ralph, Christine Vandeusen and her husband, Chris; grandchildren, Nicholas Vandeusen, Matthew Stupple, Abigail Stupple and Thomas Vandeusen; great-grandchildren, Avery Vandeusen and Madelyn Vandeusen; his significant other, Kitty VanHorn; mother of his children, Virginia Gonzalez; a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A private service will be held and he will be laid to rest in New York next to his sons.
