Edward "Ed" Martin's Obituary
Edward "Ed" Martin, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, just days before celebrating his 83rd birthday. Born on July 20, 1943, in Everett, Massachusetts, Ed lived a life seasoned with service, hard work, adventure, and unwavering kindness.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in South Vietnam, Ed continued his commitment to serving others as a firefighter with the 193rd Special Operations Wing of the Air National Guard. His dedication to protecting those around him remained a constant throughout his life.
Ed later began a distinguished career with McCormick Spice Company, where his strong work ethic, leadership, and genuine ability to connect with people led him to become a Sales Manager. Much like the spices he helped bring to countless homes, Ed had a remarkable way of adding warmth, character, and joy to the lives of those around him. His friendly nature and easy conversation could brighten any room, and he never met a stranger.
A longtime resident of Middletown, Pennsylvania, until his retirement, Ed also dedicated countless hours as a volunteer firefighter with the Lower Swatara Fire Department and the Highspire Fire Department. He found great happiness on the water as an avid boater and proudly served as an officer with the Bodkin Yacht Club in Maryland. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), honoring his fellow veterans and the sacrifices they shared.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Martin; his beloved son, Edward Martin Jr.; his sister, Barbara McLinden; and his brothers, Bruce and Thomas Martin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Joan Martin; his daughter, Dawn (George) Miller; his stepson, Corey Rosenberry; his sister, Patricia Fowler; four cherished grandchildren; and five treasured great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor.
Ed's legacy is one of faithful service, steadfast love, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
