Elaine M Haussmann's Obituary
Mrs. Elaine M. (Sabia) Haussmann, 89, of Waynesboro, PA, formerly of Palm Coast, Florida passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Facility in Hershey, PA.
Born December 6, 1933 in Hazelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Susan (Vaccaro) Sabia.
She was a graduate of Hazelton High School with the graduating class of 1951. She went on to further her education and earned a diploma in Nursing from Hazelton Hospital in 1953. She additionally holds a Bachelors of Human Services Administration from The College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
Elaine and her beloved husband of over 46 years, Julius W. Haussmann, Jr. were married in 1954 in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. She retired from Franklin Square Hospital in 1989. Soon after retirement, she and her husband made their move from Harford County, MD to sunny Florida. Elaine rejoined the workforce shortly after their move to Palm Coast. She worked as a Community Health Nurse for the Florida Health Department in St. Johns County and assisted with many health care programs within the community.
She was a devout Catholic and was an active member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast, FL. She was actively involved in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Nurse Ministry, the Women’s AM Guild, and taught catechism for ten years, preparing youth for their First Holy Communion. More recently, she became a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church upon moving to Waynesboro, PA.
Elaine is survived by her four children: son William Haussmann of Ormond Beach, FL; daughters Janet Nickels of Waynesboro, PA and Patricia McCandless of York, PA; and son Paul Haussmann of Street, MD. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Carrie, Randy, Lauren, Breesha, Aaron, Ashley, Christopher, and Tyler. She has three great grandchildren: Stephen, Fiona, and Wyatt; her beloved God daughter, Lisa Morris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Mark, Lucy, Angie, and Betty Jean; and her grandson, Carrington.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to St. Andrew Catholic School, 213 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
