Elizabeth Porter
Elizabeth Porter nee James was born on July 25, 1917 in Inez, KY to the late Melvin And Rosa James nee Kirk. She passed away on October 14, 2012 in Port Orange, FL at the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
Elizabeth moved to Florida in 1978 from Ohio. She enjoyed collecting angels, astrology, reading, and the beach. Elizabeth will be remembered as a very spiritual person. She loved her dogs very much, and treated them like family.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband Gene who passed away on October 3, 2003 after over 60 years of marriage. Also preceding her are two sisters, Almeda and Dixie and a brother, Roscoe.
She is survived by her sons, Henry Porter of FL, Gene Porter Jr. and wife Kathy of KY, and Howard Porter and wife Deena of TX, brothers, JD James of FL, Norman James of FL, and Thomas James of OH, her sister Lucy Forest of OH, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 4:00 pm from the Grace Episcopal Church, 4110 Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange, FL 32127.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Elizabeth to the Southeast Tissue Alliance, 6241 NW 23rd Street, Suite 400, Gainesville, FL 32653.
All arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Cremation and Memorial Chapel, Port Orange, FL
