Captain G. Nelson Funkhouser
Retired UAL Captain G. Nelson Funkhouser passed away February 7, 2014 at the age of 85. Nelson was born at home in Pittsylvania County, VA on February 24, 1928 to parents G. Nelson Funkhouser and Parepa Jack Smith.
He leaves on this earth his devoted wife of 59 years, Honey Lou, three children; Gregg Funkhouser, Doug Funkhouser and Lynne’ Funkhouser, eight grandchildren; Garrett, Taylor, Kurt, Tess, Shaker, Kier, Chase, and Matise. He also leaves behind Bobby and Johnny Funkhouser
As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who gave his family years of unconditional love and treasured memories. We ask those who knew him to reflect on your own personal memory of Nelson; cast your eyes on the heavens and smile!
The family suggests contributions in Nelson’s name to be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1435.
