Gary Wayne Smith's Obituary
Gary Wayne Smith, born June 15, 1952 in High Point, NC to Johnny W and Inez Stutts Smith. A 1970 graduate of Asheboro High School. He married Barbara McMahon, an Eastern Randolph Graduate in 1970.
Gary spent 20 years in the US Army Reserves, primarily with the 485th Infantry Division with active duty during Desert Storm.
As a civilian, he was a textile supervisor for Klopman Mills and others. He also traveled to South America to install textile equipment while working independently.
Before retiring and moving to Palm Coast, Florida- Gary worked at Britthaven of Morgantown as Maintenance Supervisor.
Gary’s favorite past time was fishing and playing with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents- brother Jon Smith of Rutherfordton, NC, sister Rhonda Smith of Marion and sister Karen Smith of Rutherfordton. One son, Bryan Wayne, two grandchildren, Cody Wayne and Austin Taylor Smith. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara McMahon Smith, son Steve Smith and his wife Tammy Smith, son Kevin smith and his wife Suzanne Smith. Grandkids: Cassidy Smith/Nick Oltean, Koby/Katlyn Smith, Ty Smith, Kamryn Smith, Addyson Smith and Caleb Smith.
A Memorial Service will be at Flagler County Baptist Church at 500 N Pine Street Bunnell, with Pastor Larry Hobbs on Sunday the 14th at 6:30pm
