George E. Rhein Jr.'s Obituary
George E. Rhein, Jr., 62, passed away unexpectedly in Bunnell, FL on October 31, 2021. He was born on March 29, 1959 in Elmhurst, Queens, New York to George and Mary (O'Donnell) Rhein.
Those who knew George best knew him as a dedicated, humble, and hard worker. For over 25 years, he proudly owned a successful photo shop on Long Island in Glen Cove, NY. After retiring to Florida, George worked for the Flagler County Public Schools Student Transportation department as a bus driver. He had plenty of humorous stories to tell about the kids he'd met and of the great people he worked with there.
He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, classic Corvettes, and NASCAR. He always looked forward to his next ride, especially when a niece, nephew, or god child joined him on the Harley. It was no wonder George was their favorite uncle! George relished his role dressing up as Santa Claus every Christmas and handing out presents to family and friends alike. More than anything, George enjoyed hanging out with close friends and getting the chance to spend time with those he cared about the most. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends, especially Kevin & Beth Ferguson, Roger Hanlon, and Roxanne Rodriquez.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary. He is survived by three siblings; his brother John (Sandy) Rhein, and sisters Rose Rhein and Terry (Peter) Brown. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews that he loved dearly: Olivia and John Michael Rhein; and Jack, Julia, and P.J. Brown.
A public viewing and celebration of George's life will be held at Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service located at 4601 E. Moody Boulevard, Bunnell, FL 32110 on Friday, November 5th, 2021 from 6-9pm. At 7pm, George’s family will share stories and memories of George and will give other attendees the opportunity to do so.
