Georgia Lucille Matthews
Georgia Lucille Matthews of South Daytona, FL was born March 21, 1932 in Lebanon, PA to the late Martin Van Buren Habecker and Bertha Habecker nee Mase, and passed away December 16, 2012 at Daytona Beach, FL at the age of 80 years. In February, 1952 Georgia was united in marriage to Curtis H. Matthews and they went on to celebrate 45 years together. Mr. Matthews passed away June 14, 1997 in Port Orange, FL.
Georgia graduated from Lebanon High School in 1949. In her younger years she loved riding motorcycles, roller skating, and bowling. During her working years, she worked as an electrician for Hershey Foods, where she retired in 1981. As life and time has a way of changing our activities, Georgia found time to enjoy bingo, cross stitch, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. However, the one constant throughout her life was caring for and loving her family and friends.
Georgia is survived by her daughter Leslie Matthews and partner Raymond Spohn, of South Daytona, FL, with whom she resided. She also leaves behind brothers Carl Brady of Lebanon, PA, Martin Habecker and wife Alice of Warner-Robbins, GA, and Dennis Habecker and wife Polly of Lebanon, PA. She is survived by sisters, Veronica Gordon and husband Chester of Lebanon, PA, Claudia Batz and husband Robert of Lebanon, PA, Judith Hain and husband Donald of Lebanon, PA, Sharon Rauch and partner Carl Hyde of Palmyra, PA, and Sheila Gearheart and husband Richard of Hagerstown, MD, plus many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her family she leaves behind special friends Roy Lee and Betty Wildmone of South Daytona, and lifelong friends Pat Stima and Doris Ross.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband Curtis H. Matthews, her parents Martin Habecker and Bertha Habecker nee Mase, brothers Clare Habecker and Alfred Habecker, and sisters Betty Pyles and Cynthia Whitman.
