Harriet was one of the sweetest residents I have ever worked with. After awhile I just had a love for her. It was different with Harriet, I kept a special eye on her and her care because I felt like she was family. My own another lived her too, and my dad remembers her. My son and husband were find of her and Harriet would always ask about my family, almost every other day. She had Alzheimer's and remembered MY name. After I left my first job where I met her i was heartbroken leaving her there. I would often go back to visit her. Until once when I raised a little beck when I felt like she was being neglected (left alone in one house while everyone was in another), and I was told I wasn't allowed to visit anymore by the facility. I wanted to report, but I never did. God had a better plan, Glenn and I ran into each other at a local strip mall, exchanged information and about a month later she was living in the place I was working, so I got to see Harriet almost everyday again, my job just got even better!! Whenever I was having a tough day, I'd go see Harriet, she reminded me of my grandma. Harriet also loved Bingo along with the hobbies mentioned in her Obit. I was the Activity Director, we got her up dancing several times, she loved to eat and would admit she had a sweet tooth, she was a very neat person always would tidy up her room, she would usually pick out what she wanted to wear everyday, or if I was helping her mid day in a clothing change. I have detoured on trips to find Harriet, a ladies room, once I now have to admit to my own apartment! We were close by and she had to go, and it was just her and 2 other residents, so they came in for lemonade and a bathroom break! That was an interesting day. I would have loved to have Harriet over more and often wanted to take her home for the weekend. I was honored to have her at my apartment, but told her it was our secret. Hey, I put my residents first and if they have to go to the bathroom I find the safest one near by, that day it was my own!! On occasion of wisk Harriet off for ice cream, she loved ice cream. It was her favorite. About 6 months after I met Harriet I started taking a group to Tomoka Christian church. We went 1 Tuesday a month to their old Hymnal service. She just loved it and after we would stay for lunch. I think she felt normal while we were out, just one of girls! I loved to help my residents do everyday normal things and not make a big deal of their ailments. She would ask lots of questions after church and I did my best to answer. I once took her on a tour of the Jewish temple on Granada as well. She was amongst the first people to attend a Tuesday service at the new Tomoka church on Hand Ave. She sat right in the front row. I loved listening to her sing. I have dozens of pictures of her, at the library, holly hill museum, at the movies, bowling and one of the most exciting was her trip to Marine Land! My old company paid for 1 resident to do a pet and feed with a dolphin, I selected Harriet to do this. She loved it. I'm going to truly miss Harriet, she has touched my heart forever. God bless your entire family. Hugs.
