Helen E Davis' Obituary
Helen E. Davis , 74, passed away on May 18, 2023 at Advent Health Palm Coast. She was born on January 20, 1949 in New York, New York to the late James and Anna Shormis.
Helen made her mark working for New York Telephone Co, and raising her family in The Bronx, NY until she was able to build her first home in Chester, NY in 1977. She remained there until relocating them all to Flagler Beach in 1990--and lived out the rest of her life as a Flagler County resident.
Helen retired from both the Advent Health System where she worked for many years as a CNA, as well as the Flagler County School System working over 20 years as a Teaching Assistant/Paraprofessional. Her loving care for people, and for her special-needs students gave her purpose each and every day.
Upon her retirement, she spent her days with her friends at the Frieda Zamba Pool--lobbying fiercely for, and being instrumental in the pool remaining open year-round. She was always the first to bring cookies and cupcakes or to order pizza for the lifeguards; to her, they were her "second family".
She was preceded in death by her Father, James Shormis; her Mother, Anna Shormis; her Brothers, Thomas (Sheila) Shormis and James Shormis; and her youngest son, Daniel Davis.
She is survived by her children : James Davis; Carrie (Aubrey) Davis-Britton; her Grandchildren : Amber (Fred) Holland, John (Jodi) Steadman, Evan (Hailey) Davis, Jackson Davis, and Alexxis Borg; her Great-Grandchildren : James Edward Steadman, Ayla (Brice) Porter, Kierra Holland, Lewis Holland; her nieces : Sheila Ann Mackay, Mary Shormis, Christine (Bobby) Davis; her nephews : Thomas Shormis, James (Nicolina) Shormis, and John Davis and many great nieces and nephews.
As the "glue" that held our family together, she will be sorely missed and eternally loved...
