Helen McKenney
Helen McKenney was born on March 4, 1925 in Washington D.C. to the late Forrest Johns Miller and Helen Margaret Miller nee Mull. She left this world to be with her Lord on July 27, 2012 In Port Orange, FL at the age of 87 years.
In her youth, Helen enjoyed playing the piano and her favorite song was “Autumn Leaves”. Helen loved being a member of Grace Reformed Church where she attended since birth and was later a Deacon there. She was employed at Bynum Insurance Agency until her retirement. Helen volunteered for 10 years at Doctor’s Hospital in New Carrollton, MD, and as a reading teacher through Prince George County Literacy Council.
In addition to the death by her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Richard Kind.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Gillard of Port Orange, FL, and brother Edward Miller and wife Sally of Ellicott City, MD. Helen was also the loving grandmother of three grandchildren; Erik Croteau, Alexis Hawkins, and Philip Perricone, and one great grandchild, Erik Croteau Jr.
Private services will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for their loving care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to Grace Reformed Church, 1405 15th, Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005
All arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Cremation and Memorial Chapel, Port Orange, FL.
