Herbert E. Newbern's Obituary
Herbert E. Newbern, 87, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children on March 15, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and one sister.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 68 years Glodean Newbern, children Wayne, Deborah, John, and Susan; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Herbert was born in Norfolk, then lived in Portsmouth and Chesapeake Virginia. He served in the US Air Force. After his service, he worked 30 years as an electronic engineer with the US Coast Guard. Herbert enjoyed wood working, electronics and gardening and spent his retirement years in Palm Coast, Florida. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed children.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Herbert's favorite charities CHKD and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
At Herbert's request, there will not be a funeral service however, the family will receive friends at his home over the weekend.
