Homer V. Dorminey Jr's Obituary
Homer Virgil Dorminey Jr. died on November 5, 2016 at the age of 87, in Palm
Coast Florida. He was born on November 26,1928 in Tampa Florida to the late
Homer and Lillian Dorminey.He enlisted in the US Army after graduating
from High School in 1946. He was assigned to service in the Panama Canal
Zone, where he served with the 71st Army Band for 3 years. After returning to the
States with his Wife, and being discharged, He attended the Mary Karl
Vocational School in Daytona Beach, and at the start of the Korean War in 1950, he was
recalled to active duty and assigned to an Ordinance Ammo Company in Georgia,
which subsequently was sent to Germany where he served for a year. Upon his
return to the States he was discharged and enrolled in Northeastern University. He was a Korean Era Veteran. Homer graduated from Northeastern University in 1956 and then went on to work for IBM as a mechanical engineer. He was transferred to Germany for 18 months
where he worked and traveled to many countries with his family. After retiring from
IBM he went on to work in California, Singapore, and Boca Raton, Florida. He
officially retired in Flagler Beach, Florida. He enjoyed surf fishing, taking walks with his wife, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. He was an avid fan of the Florida State Seminoles and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was married to Patricia for 60 years until her death in 2010. He volunteered at the Flagler Beach library and Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Blum and her husband David of Palm Coast;
his daughter Laura Payne and her husband Edward of Jupiter;Florida; his sister Juanita Wagner of Pennsylvania; late brother Bill Dorminey of Pennslyvania; brother-in-law Francis L. Mayo of Palm Bay, Florida; dear friend Yvonne Taylor of Palm Coast and his 6 grandchildren, 3
great grandchildren and nieces and nephew.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
