Jackson Hancock Sr.
Jackson Hancock Sr. of Port Orange, FL was born on January 3, 1933 in Christmas, FL to the late Dan and Maud Hancock. He passed away on August 27, 2013 in Daytona Beach, FL at the age of 80 years.
Jackson retired from the US Air Force in 1972 as a Master Sergeant, or E-8, after 24 years of service. After his military service, Jackson attended Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX where he studied Auto Mechanics. After his graduation, Jackson went to work for Ryder as an auto mechanic, retiring in 1995 after many years of dedicated service. He relocated to Florida from Texas in 1999. Jackson was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cocoa, FL. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and working crossword puzzles.
In addition to his aforementioned parents, Jackson is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia Hamilton in 1995, three sisters, and four brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife Sara of 13 years, his sons; Jackson Hancock Jr. and wife Carla and Mitchell Lee Hancock and wife Nancy, both of TX, his daughter Cindy Richardson of TX, a brother Percy Hancock of LA, and his sister Clara Streetman of TN. Also surviving are his step-sons; Scott Bennett and wife Karen of SC, Tracy Bennett and wife Wanda of GA, Wade Bennett and wife Diane of GA, and Kurt Bennett and wife Susan of FL. Also to his credit are fifteen grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and six step-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jackson’s name to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, 301 Memorial Medical Pkwy., Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 with Rev. Joseph Bennett Officiating.
