Mr. James R. MacCumbee's Obituary
James Richard MacCumbee, 76, passed away from cancer on Tuesday morning, September 3, 2019. Jim was born in 1942 to the late William D. MacCumbee and Lois Emma Soules MacCumbee in Pittsburgh, PA. Following high school, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force and served as an automobile mechanic in France. Memories from this time there were often fondly shared. Later, he graduated from Point Park University and went on to a successful career in Telecommunication Sales, retiring from Alcatel in 2003.
Following retirement, Jim, wife Jean, and family relocated to Florida, living in various places, enjoying the Florida lifestyle. He and Jean were able to have many adventures during this time; traveling around the world to places such as Botswana, China, and Belize - to name a few. Jim always enjoyed traveling and never found a place where he couldn’t make a fast friend. Always sharing stories over a good meal and a drink or two. Many laughs and stories were shared over his rich and full life.
His loving wife of 30 years, Jean Sheffield MacCumbee, and daughters, Allison Diane MacCumbee, and Margaret Jean MacCumbee, cared for him during his short battle with cancer. Additionally, survivors include his sister L. Barbara Khan MacCumbee, brother Bill MacCumbee, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial for James MacCumbee will be held at a later date in Pittsburgh, PA.
