Cindy Richardson

James Richardson was my friend. How did this come about? I am a member of a group known simply as “the group.” We meet twice a month, usually at one of the group member’s homes. Each member brings an article of interest to share, and after he or she is finished reading, asks for comments that bring on a discussion. The majority of members are “Liberals” in the political sense, with the exception of James.
“I can’t help it, James once told me. I’m a Bureaucrat, and that’s the way we are.”
I replied, that he looked to me like an intelligent person, so how could he be a Government worker? He wasn’t offended, but laughed and said it was better than being a business man. Continuing the discussion, I said that business paid taxes that helped make his job possible. This good natured discussion went on and on.
Though, James and I had many discussions and even arguments, neither of us really ever backed down yet we remained friends.
What amazed me was James’ good humor despite his handicaps. I will miss James at group, especially considering the up coming election, as he was always sure to come from an intelligent position. And, I will also miss James as a friend. I feel fortunate to have been privileged to call him that.
