James J Roberts' Obituary
James Joseph Roberts of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on August 1, 2020, at the age of 84. After several months of declining health, James died peacefully, with the comfort of his wife Louise and children.
The youngest of five children, James was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on April 11, 1936, to father Harold Joseph Roberts and mother Marion Regina Roberts. He grew up in Boston, with sisters Polly, Carol, Janet and Sally.
At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Army, after which he used his G.I. Bill benefits to attend school and build a career as a Dental Ceramist. On July 7, 1962 he married his wife of 58 years, Louise Helen Connors. Together, they had four children and raised them in Foxboro, Massachusetts. He was very active in his children’s lives; coaching their soccer and basketball teams, as well as teaching religious education. He was well known for his sense of humor, Catholic faith, sense of community and strong family values.
In 1999 James and Louise retired to Cape Cod, in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, where he worked with an organization called Cape Abilities; focused on empowering people with disabilities to live meaningful and active lives. They later, moved to Palm Coast, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters.
James is survived by his wife Louise Roberts; children Beth Keefe, Wendy Norman, Chris Roberts and Jennifer Kucich; grandchildren Shannon Keefe, Julie Keefe, Erin Keefe, Olivia Norman, Kim Roberts, Kaili Roberts, Zoe Roberts, Connor Kucich and Keira Kucich.
James will be interred at the Bourne National Cemetery on Cape Cod. A service will be announced at a later date.
